Major release schedule
Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations is governed by Microsoft’s Modern Lifecycle Policy. Under this policy, Microsoft offers continuous support and servicing. Dynamics 365 F&O receives two major releases a year from Microsoft. These releases include important hotfixes, enhancements, feature updates, and tax updates.

Microsoft sells and supports Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations through their partner network. Microsoft partners are the providers of technical support for Dynamics 365 and those partners can escalate issues to Microsoft if necessary. Modern Lifecycle update policy
Microsoft releases 7 total service updates each year for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. There are two major updates – the spring update in April and the fall update in October. The other 5 updates are smaller updates in February, May, July, August, and November. In order to stay current under the Modern Lifecycle Policy, customers are required to take a minimum of 2 service updates per year. Dynamics 365 F&O customers must actively follow this policy to continue to receive support from Microsoft. Customers have the flexibility to pause, delay, or opt-out of up to 3 consecutive updates at a time. For example:
- A customer is currently on version 10.0.32
- The customer can pause updates 10.0.33, 10.0.34, and 10.0.35
- The customer must take the 10.0.36 update when it is available
