Dynamics 365 Marketing has been renamed

Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Marketing has been renamed Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys to unify several Dynamics 365 apps under a single offering. The rebranding comes as part of Microsoft’s efforts to simplify its Dynamics 365 product line and make it easier for customers to understand and navigate.

The name change is just one of several changes that Microsoft announced recently for Dynamics 365 Marketing. In this blog post, we’ll look at the changes and what they mean for existing and new customers.

Name change

As mentioned earlier, Dynamics 365 Marketing has been renamed “Customer Insights – Journeys.” This name change is only cosmetic, and the product has no functional changes. The name change is part of Microsoft’s efforts to simplify the Dynamics 365 product line and make it easier for customers to understand and navigate.

License and SKU changes

Microsoft has introduced a new license and SKU that allows customers to obtain both “Customer Insights – Data” and “Customer Insights – Journeys” as a single SKU with a simplified license. This change is designed to make it easier for customers to manage their licenses and reduce complexity.

For existing customers, there are no immediate changes or impacts to their current licenses and entitlements. When it’s time to renew their subscription, customers can continue their current license or switch to the new Customer Insights license. Until then, there’s no change to their current license or entitlement.

New customers can use a previously purchased Dynamics 365 Marketing license, and there’s no need to buy a new one. When their license is up for renewal, they can renew or switch to the new Customer Insights license.

Transition to real-time journeys

Microsoft encourages all customers still using outbound marketing to transition to real-time journeys. New customers should start in real-time only to avoid having to transition later. New orgs are now provisioned only with real-time journeys by default to facilitate this change. Existing outbound marketing customers won’t see any change in their existing organizations, but they’ll see the following changes in new organizations:

  • New org creation: By default, the new org will only include real-time journeys. Use the “enable” link on the Settings > Version page to add outbound marketing.
  • New features available only in real-time journeys: Product enhancements and new exciting capabilities with generative AI and Copilots will only be available in real-time journeys.

What does this mean for customers?

Overall, the changes to Dynamics 365 Marketing aim to simplify the product line and make it easier for customers to manage their licenses and navigate the various apps. The name change to “Customer Insights – Journeys” is part of this effort, as is the introduction of a new license and SKU that allows customers to obtain both “Customer Insights – Data” and “Customer Insights – Journeys” as a single SKU with a simplified license.

The transition to real-time journeys is another critical change customers should know about. This change is designed to help customers take advantage of the latest product enhancements and capabilities, including generative AI and Copilots.
