What you need to know about the 2022 year-end update for Dynamics GP
On November 15, 2022, Microsoft released the year-end update for Dynamics GP. The most notable changes in the year-end release are in the 1099 forms. Installing this update is recommended if you print 1099 forms in Dynamics GP. If you are on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 or earlier and need to produce 1099s from GP, you will need to upgrade to a newer version in order to be able to apply the year-end update with the new 1099 forms. If you are on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 or earlier and do not upgrade, there will be no way to print accurate 1099 forms out of Microsoft Dynamics GP.
Form changes
The IRS has made some light changes to forms for the 2022 tax year compared to previous years. For the 2022 tax year, there are no form payroll form changes meaning W2, W43, and W4 statements will not have updates. However, there are some minor updates to the 1099 forms for the 2022 tax year. This means if your company produces 1099 forms out of Microsoft Dynamics GP, it will be necessary to either apply the 2022 year-end update or upgrade to a newer version of GP.

1099-MISC form changes
The 2022 year-end update of Dynamics GP includes the following changes for the 1099-MISC form in addition to the removal of the pre-printed year:
- The Account Number box and 2nd Tin not box have both been moved down a line, leaving the FACTA filing requirement box by itself
- The FATCA Filing requirement box has now been labeled as Box 13, pushing boxes formerly labeled as 13,14,15,16 and 17 to now be relabeled as boxes 14,15,16,17 and 18
It is also important to note that some GP users may see a form display issue when printing forms. In some instances, all windows in GP for the 1099-MISC form still display Box 17 for State Income, when the updated 1099-MISC form has State Income under Box 18. This is a display issue only in Dynamics GP. Users should populate Box 17 for the State Income amount and Dynamics GP will print out correctly in Box 18 on the printed form.
1099-DIV form changes
In addition to removing the preprinted year, the IRS has made minor changes to the 1099-DIV form. For the 2022 tax year, the FATCA Filing requirement box has now been labeled as Box 11, pushing boxes formerly labeled as 11,12,13,14 and 15 to now be relabeled as boxes 12,13,14,15 and 16.
It is important to note that in some instances, the windows in Dynamics GP for the 1099-DIV form only have Boxes 11, 12, and 15 listed, with last year’s labels. This is a display issue only. Users should use these boxes to populate Boxes 12, 13 and 16 on the printed form. All of the boxes will print out correctly on the form.
1099-NEC form changes
The only IRS change to the 1099-NEC form was the removal of the preprinted year that separated the original box into two. However, in the October 2022 release of Dynamics GP, users can now print the 1099-NEC form with lines. This means GP users will no longer need to buy pre-printed 1099-NEC forms.
